Pandit Deendayal Petroleum University (PDPU) established at Gandhinagar, is a world class academic and research institution to develop the knowledge of science, technology, management and environment for the advancement of quality of life of the mankind in general and in relation to the domain of oil, gas and energy in particular. The university is established by the State Act and is promoted by the Gujarat Energy Research & Management Institute (GERMI), the registered society of Gujarat State Petroleum Corporation (GSPC).

PDPU has established five Schools and a Centre namely:
- School of Petroleum Technology
- School of Petroleum Management
- School of Solar Energy
- School of Nuclear Technology
- School of Liberal Studies
- Centre of Good Governance and Policy

The University Currently offers: B.Tech, BLS, M.Tech, MBA, Ph.D and Executive Programme. There are more than 1000 students residing on the campus. There are more than 50 regular faculty from diverse discipline.

SCHOOL OF LIBERAL STUDIES
The School of Liberal Studies commenced a four year residential undergraduate program for its founding batch in August 2009, offering a Bachelor of Liberal Studies degree (BLS). The School emphasizes on integrated development in teaching, experiential learning and overall grooming of the students in areas of leadership, teamwork, communication skills, thinking skills and being a responsible global citizen. In the first two years of the 4 year undergraduate program, the student will get exposure to 30 subjects ranging from Arts & Science to Management & Performing Arts. The last two years of the degree course focus on the major and minor subjects of the students’ choice.
